What Other Writers Have Said...

I usually greet the edits of proofreaders and editors with boredom. To this day, CYC are the best content editors I have ever worked with. For the first time, I was significantly challenged--and thrilled--by an editor. Because of you, I've produced my best work ever.

Basel Farag

First column posted today!!! You have been absolutely instrumental in helping me get the creative juices flowing, and then articulating myself well - so thank you for all the moral support, guidance, editing (of course!), and all the in between!

Carrie Wyann

Fmr. Columnist, INc., entrepreneur

I've deeply appreciated the editorial process with you. CYC is like a super-collaborative seminar that's polished my writing and boosted my confidence, and I appreciate all the guidance from you word-wizards.

Our content editing digs deep, helping you clarify your message, strengthen your narrative, and create more compelling essays. Each week, you’ll see clear progress as you refine your work with our tailored guidance.

Beyond editing, this program helps you build a sustainable writing routine. Regular submissions and feedback keep you accountable, fostering confidence and creativity in your writing journey.

The Essayist’s Edge

How It Works:

1.

To start, we'll work with you to quickly establish a baseline Voice and Vision, as well a documents like a Style Guide and self-editing checklist

2.

Each week, you'll share a piece to The Edge on Trello, where your editor will jump in to provide the first round of edits on the content and writing

3.

We will return the piece, with edits, for you to look over and revise. You can continue the conversation in document comments or on Trello, to learn more about the feedback and what it means for you as a writer (not just on the piece)

4.

You'll then share your revised draft to The Edge on Trello, where your proofreader will polish and refine the grammar and syntax, to prepare it for your next steps

5.

Again, we will return the piece, with edits, for you to look over and revise. You can continue the conversation in document comments or on Trello to finalize it (or prepare for another round of edits next week!)

About Elisa Doucette

Elisa has worked for over two decades creating compelling commentary, writing and editing for various businesses and publications. Her own work has been featured in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Forbes, Yahoo! Small Business, and The Huffington Post, among others. Her short stories have been published in numerous literary magazines and websites. She has spoken on international stages and podcasts, and in a more behind-the-scenes capacity Elisa has organized a number of similar events, or served as a consultant to curate the speaking content and roster.

Alongside her colleagues at CYC, she has edited for or worked with writers like Jenny Blake, Taylor Pearson, Jodi Ettenberg, Bob Gower, Alexandra Jamieson, Chris Guillebeau, Jessica Malnik -- and brands like Eventbrite, Side Hustle School, Foster, The Ready, and more.

"Writing and creating are exhausting in a very different way, in that they are a source of joy and expression, mixed with a constant barrage of criticism and doubt. I know what it's like to sit down and have to write because there are stories inside you that are bursting to get out, and it feels painful trying to squish them in. I guess, most importantly, know you aren't alone here."

Just a little more From Our Writers...

Her advice and counsel as an editor has proven invaluable as she has a deep understanding of both the business implications of content as well as what makes good writing in the first place. Since we started working together, my brand presence has increased by an order of magnitude.

Taylor Pearson

Author, Principal at Mutiny Fund

CYC’s editing was the key turning factor in an extremely important breaking point for my business. They helped me to present my ideas in precisely the right way, and while they made everything sound way more professional, they also preserved my ideas in a way that I could still identify with.
